Originally planned to compete in the + 99KG category to replace Antonio " Bigfoot" Silva (injured in Strikeforce a week before ),Lucio knew quickly that he wouldn't be able to make the weight and switch in the -99Kg division.
After an incredible fight versus Shinsho " Animal" Anzaï (a man who'll stay in memories as 1 of the toughest fighter of the ADCC 2011) in the 1st round, Lucio finally lost in 1/4 finals vs Xande Ribeiro . With his back hurt he wasn't able to do the Absolute Division the next day.
